Using the KZO Business Video Suite

Q: How do I change my account settings?

A: Use the “Account” button along the top bar. From there, you can change your password and adjust your other settings.

Q: I’ve uploaded my slide deck, why doesn’t appear in the KZO Media Player when I try to view my video?

A: Make sure you have the additional materials pod enabled. To do this, edit the playlist settings for your playlist and make sure you check the box to include the additional materials pod.

Q: Why isn’t my video playing for me / it keeps stopping while playing?

A: You may want to increase your buffer size. This changes the amount of video the player downloads from the server before it starts playing it. For slow connections, we recommend anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds.

Q: Why can’t I access desktop capture on my Macintosh computer?

A: Unfortunately, Mac does not support desktop capture at the current time.

Q: Why can’t I access the KZO Media Player on my iPad/iPhone?

A: The KZO Media Player by default uses Adobe Flash, which is not supported by the iPad/iPhone.  KZO offers and auto-selecting HTML5 player that you can enable for your KZO Suite at anytime which will allow for iPad/iPhone Support

Q: I’ve started the KZO Virtual Studio, and plugged in my microphone and webcam, why isn’t it recognizing them?

A: Your microphone and webcam must be plugged in before the Virtual Studio is started. Try closing and restarting the Virtual Studio.

Q: How do I distribute my video once I’ve created it?

A: Underneath each playlist, there is a tab labeled “Share & Embed”. From this tab, you can find the link to send your playlist to viewers.

Q: Why does the dialog says “Only normal characters allowed” when I try to submit my title/chapter/description for my video?

A: Currently the player does not support colons ( : ). Make sure your text does not contain any colons.

Q: I only have one video. Why do I need to organize it into a playlist?

A: The KZO Video Suite separates your video content into individual playlists, in case you have multiple videos that are all part of one presentation, topic, or event. You can have as few or as many videos in each playlist as you want. Feel free to experiment!

Q: What does setting my video to “Restricted” do?

A: A restricted video can not be viewed by the public – only you. This can be useful if you’d like to hold your video on the Suite without having it available to viewers yet – for example, if you want to review it first, and make changes.

Q: What happens when I post my videos to my favorite social network? Do all of my friends get to see the video and how do they access it?

A: They’ll be able to open and watch your video right away! However, in order to leave discussions or questions, they’ll have to register. In addition, you can also require them to register themselves before they’re allowed to watch the video at all.

Q: What’s a chapter and why do I need it / them?

A: Chapters separate your video into discrete segments, for easy navigation. Your viewers can use them as bookmarks, to jump between different moments in time in the video.

Q: Can I download one of the videos I’ve uploaded or produced using the KZO Virtual Studio? Can my viewers download it?

A: You can download your video using the Export Video function, as well as any additional materials you’ve uploaded and the KZO Video Sutie generated timings files. Your viewers cannot download your video.

Q: How do the XML timings files work?

A: XML timing is an advanced feature of the KZO Video Suite. You can download and upload files that specify the timing of your video’s chapters and additional materials. For most cases we recommend using the KZO Video Suite’s built-in tools for chapter and slide timing; however, using the XML files can be useful for moving videos from one playlist to another while preserving the chapters and slide timings.

Q: I’m trying to upload my video, but it says “codec not supported.” What’s wrong?

A: A codec is the method by which the video is compressed and decompressed. The KZO Media Player supports many different codecs, but some are proprietary, meaning only certain programs can play them. You can encode your video to a different codec using a tool like Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) – the player supports H.264, MPEG-4, and other codecs.

Q: My video file is huge! How do I make it smaller?

A: Raw video can be very large. You’ll want to compress your video using a video encoding tool – Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) is a free, open-source tool you can use to encode your video.

Q: Okay, I’ve got my encoder open. What settings should I use to encode?

A: The KZO Media Player supports most codecs – we recommend H.264 (the most common) or Sorenson. We recommend a bitrate of roughly 500 Kbps depending on the bandwidth you have available (for low-bandwidth environments, you may want to go as low as 200Kbps).
